CAIRO – 13 April 2018: For the third time this season, Salah has been named on Friday as Premier League’s Player of the Month for March.
The Egyptian forward has become the first player in the Premier League’s history to win this award for three times in the same season; he previously won the EA Sports Player of the Month award in November and February.
“I feel good to win it again; we had good results in the month so that’s the most important thing," said the 25-year-old to the Premier League’s official website.
Salah is eyeing becoming the best Premier League’s top scorer in history and surpassing former Manchester United and current Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, Newcastle’s former legend Alan Shearer and former Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, record of 31 goals.
“I’m very proud to see myself fighting to break the [goal-scoring] record for the Premier League. I’m thinking about each game. That’s my target, I want to score, I want to help the team to win again,” Salah said.
“It’s still five games to go, there’s a big chance, let’s see.” Salah added.
The Egyptian opened his games with Liverpool in March against Newcastle United and he led his team to win the game 2-0, scoring the first goal in the game.
Liverpool’s second game in March was against Manchester United where Liverpool lost 2-1 and Salah failed to save his team. Salah’s best game in March was against Watford when he led his team to win the game 5-0, scoring four goals. Salah also scored a late goal for Liverpool against Crystal Palace to lead his team to a 2-1 away victory.
The 25-years-old received the most combined votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains and fans to claim the award ahead of five other nominees: Son Heung-min, Romelu Lukaku, David Silva, Cenk Tosun and Chris Wood.
