CAIRO – 11 April 2018: Nogoom El-Mostakbal scored a late goal to end their game against Tersana with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday afternoon at Hassan El-Shazly Stadium in Mohandiseen, keeping them in the race for promotion to the Egyptian first division.
Tersana needed a victory to seal their promotion to the Egyptian first division after nine years of absence. They entered the game leading the group with 56 points, one point ahead of Nogoom El-Mostakbal.
Tersana opened the score after 17 minutes by their Ghanaian striker, Samuel Owusu, to make the score 1-0.
Tersana players had many chances to double the score but failed, ending the first half 1-0.
In the second half, El-Mostakbal players tried to equalize the score, but the referee disallowed a goal for them 15 minutes before the final whistle.
El-Mostakbal striker Mahmoud Mangawy then scored a late goal for his team to end the game 1-1 and keep his team’s chances of promotion alive.
After the draw, Tersana still leads the group with 57 points, and they hope to achieve victory in the last game when they meet Gomhoreyet Shebin in Menoufia.
