CAIRO – 7 April 2018: The Egyptian Darts Federation (EDF) organized the activities of the first republic championship for men's and ladies' doubles on Friday, April 6, which were held for the first time on the grounds of Heliopolis Sporting Club, sponsored by On Sport, the Heliopolis and Suez Canal clubs, and the Arab Athletes Federation.
The events were held in a highly competitive environment between 90 players from all the governorates, including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Ismailia, Fayoum, Menoufia, Suez, Qena and Luxor.
The tournament witnessed the attendance of journalists, sports media, radio and television, as well as a large number of Arab and foreign guests, fans from the participating governorates, and the coaching staffs accompanying the players from clubs and youth centers.
EDF President Yehia Abd el-Kader stated that this tournament is one of the strongest competitions organized by the federation and is characterized by the participating players’ high level of technical skill.
The speed of conducting calculations and the accuracy of simultaneous correction are the natural result of increasing the number of tournaments and competitions organized by the federation. There is also a significant increase in the number of dart practitioners from all governorates and of all ages.
The tournament’s results showed the domination of Ismailia governorate, as Canal Sports Club collected most of the prizes. The results are as follows:
Ladies
First place: Reem Mahmoud and Nada Mahmoud
Second place: Heba Ali and Shahd Tarek
Third place: Omnia Sayed and Walaa Ismail
Third place repeated: Hana Aly Abdel Fattah and Aliaa Ibrahim Sobh – Canal Sports Club
Men
First place: Hisham Abu Zekri and Omar Najm – Negom Sports Club.
Second place: Mohamed Alaa Ahmed and Mostafa Ismail Abdel Maabood
Third place: Mohamed Ahmed Samir and Maher Ismail Zerzour
Third place repeated: Yousef Mohamed Gomaa and Mallec Emad el-Din Abdel Wahed – Canal Sports Club
After the distribution of the trophies and prizes, Abd el-Kader gave a speech in which he thanked Minister of Youth and Sports Khalid Abdel Aziz for his interest in the EDF and his emphasis on Egypt's leadership in this sport and its creation of the first federation in the Arab region.
He also thanked the Heliopolis Club’s president and board of directors and those who are active in the sport.
Abd el-Kader added that the positive efforts of the federation have resulted in the approval of the member African countries of the International Federation of the League of Arab States on the offer of the Egyptian Federation to establish the African Union for darts based in Cairo.
He also revealed that there is continuous communication between six Arab countries to establish an Arab darts federation.
