Real Madrid has best squad in Europe: Simeone

CAIRO – 8 April 2018: Diego Pablo Simeone, Atletico Madrid’s coach, appeared in front of media in a press conference before the Madrid derby, as Atletico Madrid is set to visit Santiago Bernabeu to face Real Madrid on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. (CLT).

Simeone believes that Real Madrid’s squad is the best in the world. Despite this, Real Madrid is behind their neighbors in the Spanish League’s table. Real Madrid is now third with 63 points, while the Rojiblancos are second with 67 points, behind the leaders, FC Barcelona.

"On paper, we have a squad that you have all seen; we are who we are," stated the Argentine in his pre-game press conference. "We will try to win based on our collective work in an important match.”

"I don't know if Madrid have the best team in the world, but they do have the best squad, absolutely,” he added.

"They have done a great job as a club. Better than Paris Saint Germain, better than Manchester City, better than Barcelona. That is the strength they have as a team," Simeone said.

Atletico Madrid is competing in the UEFA Europa League, where they beat Sporting CP 2-0 on Thursday at Wand Metropolitano Stadium in the first leg of the competition’s quarter-final.
