Cairo – 4 April 2018: Real Madrid smacked Juventus 3-0 in the Champions League quarter-final in Turin, the home city of Juventus.
Juventus failed to avenge themselves from Madrid after their loss in the previous Champions League final match.
Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal in the third minute. He then scored the second goal with stunning bicycle kick after an assist from Spanish defender Dani Carvajal.
Madrid’s left wing, Marcelo, scored the final goal with an assist from Ronaldo, making it difficult for the Italians to make a comeback. Ronaldo increased his scoring rate to 14 goals in nine matches in the 2017/2018 Champions League.
Juventus forward Paulo Dybala got suspended by receiving a red card. He had received a yellow card earlier in the match, and then when he collided with Carvajal, the referee gave him a red card.
Meanwhile, Madrid defender Sergio Ramos will miss the next match due to receiving a second yellow card. He received the first yellow card in the round of 16 match against Paris Saint Germain.
“It’s a really good result ahead of the return leg and it was also important that we've kept a clean sheet. Everything worked out great and we now just have to finish the job back at our place," Ramos commented about Tuesday’s match on Real Madrid’s official Twitter account.
The second match between Real Madrid and Juventus will be held on April 11 at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Spain.
