CAIRO – 3 April 2018: Tanta manager, Emad el-Nahas admitted that his team’s situation in the league became more complicated after their 2-1 loss to Al-Ahly on Monday night.
“We have a tough mission to stay in the league, but we have to do our best in the remaining matches. It is always difficult to play against Al-Ahly but we had much motivation as they already secured the league title,” Nahas told press after the game.
Junior Ajayi opened the score for Al-Ahly 15 minutes after the second half start, and Marwan Mohsen doubled the score for Al-Ahly five minutes before the final whistle.
Mohamed Gaber scored Tanta’s only goal at the game during added time after receiving a cross-pass from Ahmed Khaled.
Tanta is in the 16th place with 26 points, four points behind Wadi Degla.
Nahas spoke about his team's performance against Al-Ahly, saying “We had a chance to score before the halftime but we missed it. If we had scored, the game result would have changed.”
Nahas was appointed Tanta manager in February 2018 to succeed the sacked manager, Osama Oraby, and save the team from relegation but he is struggling to achieve his appointed goal.
Tanta will face El-Entag El-Harby on Saturday April 7 at home at the Egyptian League; the team hopes to end their disastrous run as they have failed to achieve a single victory in the last 11 games.
