CAIRO – 2 April 2018: Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli believes that Antonio Conte will not be in charge of Chelsea at the next season after the club’s poor results this season.
“I would be surprised to see Conte at Chelsea next season because I think he is almost looking forward to leaving, and I also think that Chelsea want to change,” Vialli told Skysports on Monday.
Chelsea lost 3-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, decreasing their chances to finish the League in the top four and secure a place at the UEFA Champions League this season.
Chelsea are in fifth place with 56 points, and they are 8 points behind the fourth, Tottenham, only seven weeks away from the end of the season.
Vialli analyzed Chelsea’s setback this season after achieving 2017 Premier League title, saying, “It seems to me that the attitude is different, maybe because they are not in the running for the title and so they stopped believing.”
Chelsea lost their hopes to battle for the title and were knocked out from the UEFA Champions League round 16 after losing to Barcelona.
Vialli added, “I think Antonio will find a place to start working from and will win something important.”
Chelsea still have the chance to win a title this season as they reached FA Cup semi-finals and will play against Southampton on April 22 at Wembley Stadium.
