Al-Ahly to face Ivory Coast’s Police at African Championship

CAIRO – 28 March 2018: Al-Ahly will face Ivory Coast’s Police on Wednesday night in their second game of the Men’s African Volleyball Championship at Abdulla Al Faysal Halls.

Al-Ahly started their journey at the competition on Tuesday night; they defeated Uganda’s Nemo Stars 3-0.

Al-Ahly dominated the game from its start and won the first set 25-11. The Ugandan team tried to return in the second set of the game but Al-Ahly’s players’ experience helped them to win the set 25-19. Al-Ahly players did not find any difficulty at the third set and won it 25-14.

“I am so happy with the players’ performance at the game. It was a great game and we hope to end this stage on top of the group,” Al-Ahly manager, Mohamed Mselhy told press after the game.

The competition draw held on Monday put Al-Ahly in Group A alongside Kenya’s Prisons, Ivory Coast’s Police, Congo’s Espoir, Lesotho’s Red Skins and Uganda’s Nemo Stars.

Al-Ahly, the title holders, hope to achieve their 13th title in the competition, as the club has a record of 12 titles.

Al-Ahly hosts the competition from March 27 to April 6.
