CAIRO – 27 March 2018: Egypt lost 1-0 to Greece on Tuesday night in a friendly game at Letzigrund Stadium in Switzerland as part of the Pharaohs' preparation program for the World Cup.

Egyptian national team manager Hector Cuper decided to give new players the chance to prove their abilities and only started with Ali Gabr and Mohamed el-Nenny from the team that started against Portugal on Friday.

Hector Cuper's starting line-up for the game consisted of Mohamed Awad, Ali Gabr, Saad Samir, Omar Gaber, Ahmed el-Mohamady, Mohamed el-Nenny, Hossam Ashour, Ramadan Sobhy, Moamen Zakaria, Mohamed Magdy, known as Afsha, and Marwan Mohsen.

The Egyptian team had a clear chance to score when Sobhy went one on one with the Greek goalkeeper, but he failed to find the right angle for his strike and the goalkeeper saved it.

After this chance, Greece dominated the game, and they opened the score after half an hour through a header by Nikolaos Karelis, who received a wonderful cross from Michalis Bakakis.

Greece added another goal five minutes later, but the referee disallowed the goal, as the Greek player was ruled offside, ending the first half 1-0 for Greece.

In the second half, Cuper gave a chance to other players like Amr Warda, Hussein El-Shahat and Ayman Ashraf, who failed to affect the national team’s performance.

Both teams failed to create many chances in the second half, except in the last 10 minutes, which witnessed many chances from both sides, but all the attempts were saved by the goalkeepers to end the game 1-0 for Greece.
