CAIRO – 27 March 2018: Uruguay defeated Wales 1-0 on Monday in the China Cup International Football Championship final in Nanning, China.

Uruguay were crowned champions of the friendly competition after achieving two victories over Czech Republic and Wales.

Uruguay started the game with a massive attacking line of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, who formed a destructive partnership with Uruguayan attacking midfielder, Cristian Rodriguez.

The Uruguayan trio created many chances to score during the first half, but the Welsh goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey, saved all their chances.

Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera helped his team to end the first half 0-0, as he stopped all the Welsh attempts to score in the last minutes of the first half.

Cavani opened the score for the South American team only minutes after the second half start, as he received an amazing cross from Rodriguez.

That goal crowned Uruguay the champions while Wales failed to equalize in the remaining minutes of the game.

Uruguay participated in the China Cup to prepare for their participation in the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer.

The World Cup draw put Uruguay in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the host nation, Russia.

Uruguay opens their participation in the World Cup against Egypt on June 15 before meeting Saudi Arabia on June 20. Uruguay will end their group stage games against Russia on June 25.
