Al-Ahly faces Sporting in Egypt Basketball Cup

CAIRO – 19 March 2018: Al-Ahly faces Sporting on Tuesday in the Egypt Basketball Cup final. Al-Ahly players hope to achieve their ninth title in the competition, while Sporting is aiming for their eighth title and their sixth title in a row.

Al-Ahly reached the final after defeating Smouha 61-59 on Sunday after a tough game.

Smouha led the first half of the game 29-26, but Al-Ahly players returned in the second half to achieve the victory and reach the final.

In the other semi-final, Sporting, the title holders, defeated Zamalek 61-59 to reach their sixth consecutive final.

Al-Ahly players enter the final seeking revenge, as they lost the 2016 and 2017 Egypt Basketball Cup titles to Sporting.

Al-Ahly will depend on veterans Tarek El-Ghannam, Mody El Garhy and Ibrahim El-Gamal to regain the title.

On the other hand, Sporting players hope to continue their dominance over the competition, as they have won the last five titles in the competition.

Zamalek and Al-Ittihad share the record in the competition, having won 12 titles each.
