CAIRO – 19 March 2018: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) denied on Sunday that the Brazilian Neymar has asked for an increase in salary as a condition to stay in the French club next season, according to L'Équipe’s website.

The PSG statement arrived a few hours before the 1-2 victory of PSG over Nice in the 31st round of the French league thanks to a late goal from Dani Alves.

Paris St. Germain club, owned by the Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is linked to some reports claiming that their winger, Neymar, demanded a higher salary after his meeting with Al-Khelaifi in Brazil.

According to The Times, Neymar, for which PSG paid €222 million, has asked for €54 million as an annual salary (€1 million per week) compared to his current €40 million annual salary.

The newspaper says that the Brazilian has put that as a condition for his staying, compared to the offers he received from great teams such as Real Madrid.

Neymar, his father and agent made that request to the president of the club, Al-Khelaifi, during his visit to Brazil this week, where Neymar is recovering from an injury that is keeping him away from the pitch at the moment.

L'Équipe, on the other hand, affirms that the club has denied this information.
