CAIRO – 17 March 2018: Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco said on Friday that Barcelona, the opponent of his team in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, is one of the "best in the world", in statements released on the official website of the Italian team.
"It came out of the draw one of the best in the world, with the best player in the world, Lionel Messi," said Di Francesco.
"We have come so far playing with courage, determination and application. We will play with enthusiasm and awareness. Forza Roma,” he added.
The Champions League draw held in Nyon, Switzerland has also been commented on by the sports director of Rome, Spaniard Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo "Monchi", who asked the Italian team to take on Barcelona with the correct attitude.
"You cannot say that we were lucky, although when you enter the quarter-finals of the Champions League, there are no easy rivals," he told beIN SPORTS.
"Barcelona and [Manchester] City are the ones at the highest level of the sport. The favorite is Barca, but no one thinks Rome are dead."
Daniele De Rossi, Roma’s captain, has also shared his opinion about the draw.
"Maybe we have got the worst opponent for us, but only the best reach the quarter-finals. This is the tie. We must not talk about good or bad luck; we have to prepare it well, knowing that we are not very strong, but we are not the worst,” he said.
It is expected that the first leg will be held on April 3 or 4 and the second leg on April 10 or 11.
