CAIRO – 12 March 2018: Al-Hilal lost 2-1 to Qatar’s Al-Rayyan on Monday in the AFC Champions League group stage. Al-Hilal players failed to achieve their first victory in the competition this year after four games.

Al-Rayyan opened the score by Abderazak Hamdallah through a penalty minutes before the half time, while Al-Rayyan’s Brazilian winger, Rodrigo Tabata, doubled the score for the Qatari club after 20 minutes from the second half start.

Al-Hilal’s only goal in the game came a minute before the final whistle by their captain, Yasser Al Qahtani, through a penalty.

Al-Hilal continued their disastrous run in the competition this year, as they only picked up two points after four games.

They opened their participation in the competition with a goalless draw against Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia before losing 1-0 to Iran’s Esteghlal Tehran.

Their third game ended with a 1-1 draw against Al-Rayyan at home before losing Monday’s game in Qatar to the same team.

Al-Hilal is the 2017 AFC Champions League runner-up after losing the final to Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds.

Esteghlal Tehran and Al-Ain share the top of the group with six points, while Al-Rayyan places third with four points. Al-Hilal stays at the group bottom with only two points.
