CAIRO – 24 February 2018: In England, people are optimistic about the renewal of David de Gea with Manchester United. The prestigious newspaper The Times reported on Friday that the Spanish goalkeeper is willing to extend his contract with the Red Devils.
According to the London newspaper, Real Madrid can forget about the goalkeeper who was about to sign at the end of the 2015 market. The talks between the entity of Old Trafford and the player began late last year and progressed satisfactorily.
The economic figures contemplated in the negotiations speak of a salary of €13 million ($16 million) per year for De Gea, which would make him one of the best paid footballers in the Premier League.
Regarding the duration of the contract, the desire of Manchester United is to tie De Gea to Old Trafford at least until 2021.
The current international contract ends in June 2019, with an option for the club to prolong it for one more season.
De Gea is considered one of the best goalkeepers, as he carries Mourinho’s team on his shoulders by saving a lot of chances. Without him, Manchester United would be in a different place in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
De Gea has been voted as UEFA Player of the Week in the Champions League, as he saved his team eight times in the goalless draw against Sevilla last Wednesday.
