CAIRO – 26 April 2017: Amid anticipation, the draw for the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup draw will take place at 2:00 p.m.CLT at the CAf headquarter in 6th October city.
For the first time, the CAF will adopt the “16-team group stage” system in the two championships instead of having the qualified teams directly thrown into the quarter-finals stage.
With 16 African teams participating, the championship will be divided into two eight-team groups to complete the group stage knockout ties line-ups.
Each tie will be played over two legs, and each team's respective score count will be based on the two-legged ties aggregate scores.
The winners and runner-ups will race in the championships’ quarter-finals.
The CAF Champions’ League group stage will include Egypt’s giants Al-Ahly and Zamalek, Tunisia’s AlTaraji and the coastal star, the ex title-holders Sun Downs of South Africa, AlHilal of Saudi Arabia and Mareekh from Sudan, the Algerian capital union, Morocco’s Al-Wedad, the Congolese Vita Club , the Zambian Zanaco, the Cameroonian Cotton, Saint George of Ethiopia and Zimbabwe's CAPSUnited.
Meanwhile the 16th round of the CAF Confederation Cup will include Egypt’s Smouha, Tunisia’s the African and Sfaxien, Platinum Stars and Super Sport from South Africa, Al-Hilalfrom Sudan, Algeria’s Mouloudia, Morocco’s Rabat, Mazembe from Congo, Zesco United from Zambia, the Angolan Recreativo Libolo, the Gabonese Monana, the Ghiannian Conakry, Nigeria's Rivers United, Kampala City of Uganda and Swaziland's Mbabane Swallows
