CAIRO – 29 January 2018: The Argentinean midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain, Javier Pastore, referred to his departure from the club during this winter transfer market in order to have more minutes and become a part of the Argentinean national team at the next World Cup.
"If I do not go to the World Cup by staying here, I will not forgive myself. I was not in Argentina’s [last] squad because I [was] not play[ing] with my club Paris Saint-Germain, it's normal, Argentina has many players that are better than me," he told the press after the last victory against Montpellier which ended with 4-0 in PSG’s favor.
"Here I have to wait for someone to be injured in order to play a game," he added.
Pastore acknowledged that he has not yet made a decision, but said he is talking to the club to facilitate his departure.
"It also depends on the club I'm going to join, I do not want to leave at all costs, I want to go to Italy, a league that I know well and that I like very much; my wife is there and for me family is important. We will try to find an agreement with the club in the coming days," the 28-year-old said.
Pastore was the first major signing of the Qatari owners of PSG from Palermo. His luxurious salary, €700,000 per month, may be a problem for his departure in this winter market, which closes on Wednesday, because no other club would pay him the same amount of salary.
