CAIRO – 28 January 2018: Egyptian Darts Federation has finished its Fifth tournament for men & women singles held on Saturday, January 27 at the 6th of October city Shooting Club.
The tournament lasted for two days; the first day was for the preliminary and qualifying sessions. Then the second was for the finals and the distribution of the prizes.
The competition included players from all over Egypt: Cairo, Giza, Fayoum, Ismailia, Menofeya, Suez, Qena and Luxor.
The tournament was the most important being held in Egypt as it was used by the federation as a criteria for classifying Egyptian players in the preparation for the Netherlands Open tournament next Febraury.
Many prominent figures attended the tournament headed by General Director of the bodies as a representative of Minister of Youth and Sports, Egyptian Darts Federation members, the Shooting Club’s president, the Shooting Club’s board of directors and Sports activity officers. As well as Sports Media, TV & Radio representatives and darts fans from all over Egypt.
The Egyptian Darts Federation President, Dr Yehia Abd el-Kader, stated that this tournament is one of the strongest competitions organized by the Federation, characterized by the high level of technical and the skill of the participating players. The speed of conducting calculations and the accuracy of simultaneous correction are the natural result of increasing the number of tournaments and competitions organized by the federation. There is also a significant increase in the number of practitioners of darts from all provinces and of all ages.
The tournament’s results showed the domination of Ismailia province as Canal Sports Club collected most of the prizes. The results are as follows:
Men’s - First place: Mohamed Gharib – Canal Sports club
Men’s - Second place: Mohamed Masoud – Shooting Club
Men’s - Third place: Ayman Mansour – Qaroon Club / Mohamed Gharib – Canal Sports club
Women’s - First place: Walaa Ismail – Canal Sports Club
Women’s - Second place: Marwa el-Fouly – Canal Sports Club
Women’s - Third place: El-Nogoum club/ Nada Mahmoud – Canal Sports Club
After the distribution of the trophies and prizes, Dr Yehia Abd el-Kader gave a speech in which he thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports Eng. Khalid Abdel Aziz for his interest in the Egyptian Darts Federation and his emphasis on Egypt's leadership in this sport and its creation of the first federation in the Arab region.
He also thanked the Shooting Club’s president and the board of directors and those who are active in the sport.
El-Kader added that the positive efforts of the federation have resulted in the approval of the African countries members of the International Federation of the League of Arab States on the offer of the Egyptian Federation to establish the African Union for the Darts based in Cairo.
He also revealed that there are continuous communications between six Arab countries to establish an Arab Darts federation.
