CAIRO – 6 January 2018: The return of Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa, to the Spanish League with his team was successful. Costa led his team to defeat Getafe in the Madrid derby 2-0 on Saturday at Atletico Madrid stadium, Wanda Metropolitano.

Costa started the game alongside Antoine Griezmann in Atletico’s attacking line and created many chances to open the score in the first half but the first goal was scored by Angel Correa in minute 18.

In the second half, Costa received a yellow card after he elbowed Getafe defender, Djene Dakonam, in minute 62.

Six minutes later, Costa scored his first goal with Atletico in the league this season and he could not stop celebrating with his teammates, cauding the referee to send him off the pitch after receiving his second yellow card.

Both teams failed to score a goal in the remaining minutes and the game ended 2-0 for Atletico Madrid.

Costa, 29, wore the Atletico Madrid jersey between 2007 and 2014 before leaving to England to play for Chelsea. He returned to Atletico last summer but he waited six months before playing in official matches as the team was banned from signing transfer deals until this January.
