CAIRO – 3 January 2018: Manchester United’s coach Jose Mourinho did not receive good reviews, especially from the former Manchester United footballer, Paul Scholes.
Currently working as a television commentator, Scholes was questioned about the role of Paul Pogba in Manchester United as well as Mourinho. Scholes criticized both the player and the manager.
After United's triumph on Monday at Everton, when Manchester beat Everton 2-0 in round 22 of the Premier League, Mourinho responded to Scholes' comments with his usual sarcastic tone.
"I think the only thing Scholes does is criticize, I do not think he says anything, which is a very different thing, we are not all as phenomenal as he was a player, he was a phenomenal player but that does not mean that we have to be phenomenal outside the football career," Mourinho said.
Mourinho also suggests that the former footballer is jealous of the French midfielder, Pogba, because of the salary he receives.
"Pogba is not to blame for winning much more money than Scholes, it's not his fault, it's simply because of how football works now."
Finally, he finished his story by implying that Scholes will never know football as much as he does.
"I hope that if one day he became a coach, he could achieve 25 percent of the success that I have had. There are 25 titles, so 25 percent would be about 6 titles, which would be very good," Mourinho concluded.
