El Khatib announces ‘Project of Century’

CAIRO – 1 January 2018: Mahmoud El Khatib, President of Al Ahly SC, revealed a surprise to the Reds’ fans during his press conference on Sunday and it was the ‘Project of Century’.

El Khatib announced that a press conference would be held on Sunday to announce a "surprise to Al Ahly’s fans".

"The board of directors held some meetings during the last month to study the status of the club, as well as the financial position with the aim to devise a plan to achieve the fans’ dream. Our dream is to provide an investment project for Al Ahly to transfer the club to one of the top 10 clubs globally and provide material resources to achieve the aspirations of the members and the fans,” El Khatib said.

"We are proud to announce the ‘Project of Century’, which is the construction of Al Ahly Stadium among the top 10 stadiums in the world, if not the best," El Khatib added.

"It is a beautiful dream; working on it and planning it well is making us keen to achieve it."

El Khatib was absent from Atletico Madrid's friendly match on Saturday at Borg el-Arab stadium, where the club's president was in Abu Dhabi for special arrangements.
