Hamsik assures Napoli winter champion title

CAIRO – 30 December 2017: Napoli had the opportunity to finish the year as leader of Serie A. They did not waste the chance, as they defeated the 18th placed Crotone 1-0, thanks to the Slovak midfielder, Marek Hamsik.

Napoli (48 points) is guaranteed to be the leaders until the next round; they came ahead of Juventus (44 points) with four points.

Napoli last won Serie A in the 1980/90 season, although they were not the leaders.

The record of points, and victory number 12 in the last 13 games, all came from the foot of a player who is already a myth in the club, Marek Hamsik.

Hamsik scored the only goal of the match in the minute number 17. He gave a valuable three points and became the winter champion of the 2017/2018 season.

The match started with a certain balance, but the best form of Napoli became apparent very soon. A great combination on the front between Allan and Hamsik ended with a goal from the best scorer in the history of the club.

Hamsik paid tribute to the logo and his teammates after reaching the milestone. Maurizio Sarri`s team totally dominated their opponent, and Crotone`s goalkeeper Alex Cordaz made several saves that prevented the score from being 0-2.
