CAIRO – 28 December 2017: The Pharaohs will have a good chance to qualify to the stage of 16 at the 2018 World Cup, British newspaper Daily Mail said on Thursday.
The World Cup draw was held on December 1 at the Russian capital Moscow at the Kremlin Palace; the draw placed Egypt in Group A with Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
The newspaper added that Liverpool’s flying winger, Mohamed Salah, will be one of the World Cup’s stars and will be one of the most valuable weapons of the Egyptian team in qualifying to the first knockout stage of the World Cup, according to the Egyptian team’s head coach Hector Cuper.
The Pharaohs will start their journey through the World Cup by facing Uruguay on June 15, before their match with the hosts, and then will face fellow Arabs, Saudi Arabia, in the last match of the group stage of the tournament.
Salah has scored five goals with the national team in the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, and is the second top scorer of the Premier League with 15 goals after Tottenham Hotspur’s striker Harry Kane who leads the top scorers with 18 goals.
