Fatih Terim offers Eboué job

CAIRO – 26 December 2017: The statement made recently by former Ivorian player Emmanuel Eboué in the English newspaper The Mirror left the world of football dismayed.

The ex-Arsenal and Galatasaray defender explained that the traumatic divorce with his ex-wife, Aurelie, has left him depressed.

The story of Eboué’s financial and personal woes was in the headlines over the weekend after the The Mirror reported that the clubless defender was on the brink of suicide after losing all his earnings in a bitter divorce case.

"Since June, I cannot see my children, and the authorities are behind me to give me the last of my possessions," said the Côte d'Ivoire player who acknowledged that he was even thinking of suicide.

“I can’t afford the money to continue to have any lawyer or barrister. I am in the house, but I am scared, because I don’t know what time the police will come. Sometimes I shut off the lights because I don’t want people to know that I am inside,” he said.

In his harrowing statement, the former Gunners defender added that "any offer or help that comes to me will be welcome."

One of his last clubs, Turkish team Galatasaray, where he played for more than four years, reacted after receiving desperate calls from the defender.

The U.K. Daily Mail quoted Eboué as saying, “I would be very happy if Fatih gave me the duty in Galatasaray.”

“Fatih Terim is my father. I love him very much; I do everything for him because I love him very much,” he added.

Fatih Terim, ex-coach of Eboué and current coach of the Turkish team, was dismayed.

“We heard news about Eboué in the dressing room; I was informed there. We will do whatever we can to help my friend,” said Terim.

Apparently, the Istanbul team has already offered a position as assistant coach of their under-14 youth team to the Ivorian.
