CAIRO – 24 October 2017: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Sunday the opening of the vote for 2017 CAF player of the year.
Mohamed Salah, Egyptian Liverpool winger, is competing alongside Sadio Mane, Senegalese Liverpool winger, and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Gabonese Borussia Dortmund striker.
CAF tweeted through their official account on Twitter: “Visit http://cafonline.com and you will find the poll on the home page.”
Salah, 25, became the greatest and most famous athlete in Egypt in the last three years. Being a symbol of success, Liverpool’s right-winger is changing youth’s attitudes and mentalities.
Salah achieved many records this season with the Egyptian football national team and his club Liverpool FC. The talented fast winger helped the Egyptian national team qualify for the World Cup finals next summer in Russia after 28 years of absence.
Salah has had an amazing season with Liverpool, scoring 21 goals for his team, including 15 goals in the Premier League to be the league’s top goal scorer.
Salah has been awarded with the EA Sports Player of the Month award of November.
Salah received BBC’s African Player of the Year award and became the third Egyptian to win such an award, after Mohamed Barakat, who won the award in 2005, and Mohamed Aboutrika, who won it in 2008.
