CAIRO – 24 December 2017: Spanish football journalist Guillem Balagué revealed on Saturday that Barcelona is losing hope of signing Brazilian winger Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

“Liverpool doesn't want to sell Coutinho; that's where they stand right now, so Barcelona is not optimistic about the possibility of Coutinho going there,” Balagué told Sky Sports on Saturday.

Barcelona has been linked with signing Coutinho since last summer, but all their offers were rejected by Liverpool.

Balagué spoke about Barcelona’s interest in signing Antoine Greizmann, saying, “Barcelona wants Greizmann, no doubt about it. They are willing to pay the €100 million ($119 million) that he will cost from June 1. Barcelona has got Griezmann as number one target, at the same level of Coutinho, but I don't think they can get both players."

Barcelona contacted Greizmann to offer him a contract in the summer, and his team, Atletico Madrid, reported Barcelona to FIFA after their illegal approach to the player, according to ESPN.
