CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane revealed on Friday that his team’s players are ready for the game against Barcelona in the Spanish League.
"The feelings in the group are good and we’re looking forward to this game. We’re ready to put in a great performance. The good thing is that we’re prepared for this type of game,” Zidane stated at the pre-match press conference.
Real Madrid hopes to finish their amazing year with a victory over their local rivals, Barcelona. Barcelona leads the Spanish League table with 42 points, six points ahead of the second-placed Atletico Madrid and 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, which still has a postponed game against Leganes.
Asked about his memories of El Clasico games, Zidane said, “I remember one in the Champions League playing in Barcelona and winning a semi-final at Camp Nou was very nice.”
It was in the first leg of the 2002 Champions League semi-finals when Zidane led Real Madrid to defeat Barcelona 2-0. Zidane scored the first goal and Steve Mcmanaman doubled the score for Real Madrid.
