CAIRO - 22 December 2017: Carles Puyol, former Barcelona player, does not believe that Barca will beat Real Madrid in the ‘Clasico’ on Saturday.
He said to the press, "There are other teams, Atlético is there and we have to respect them," but he admits that for The White team, "they would have difficulty recovering the gap of points, it would be considerable, but if Madrid has a virtue, it is that they never lose their passion."
The former Barcelona player, featured in the ‘La Liga’ awards festival, warns that "Madrid is always dangerous in the Bernabéu, whether in their form or not," and recalls that "in the 2008\2009 season Madrid was 12 points ahead of us before Christmas and we did a comeback because we won 2-6, it would have been complicated if we did not win".
The former defender, who experienced many ‘Clasicos’, also has his opinion on the controversial issue of the ‘Honorable passage’ and believes it is a gesture "to pay tribute to a champion and not to humiliate the opponent."
Real Madrid requested from Barcelona to do an ‘honorable passage’ before their expected match because Madrid recently won the FIFA Club World Cup title for the second time in a row.
