CAIRO – 6 April: Egypt moved up one place from 20th to 19th in the latest FIFA rankings, maintaining its position on top of other African teams,

Youm7 reported

Thursday.

Egypt's 3-0 win over Togo in a friendly game Tuesday at Borg Al Arab Stadium boosted Egypt’s chances to go up in FIFA’s April World Rankings, the report added.

The Egyptian national team is preparing to encounter Tunisia next June in the African Nations Championship qualifiers, slated to take place in Cameroon in 2019.

Brazil claimed the top of the FIFA rankings this month after seven-year absence, replacing Argentina, which saw two consecutive losses, putting it in danger of missing out on the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Brazil snubbed a nine-game win, including eight World Cup qualifiers, under the leadership of recently-hired team coach Tite.
