CAIRO – 19 December 2017: Celtic FC, the dominator of Scottish football, stumbled on Sunday at home 0-4 against Hearts, leading them to be placed fourth in the standings of the table of the Scottish League.

Celtic’s coach, Brendan Rodgers, felt the bitter taste of loss after 69 games without losing in the league.

Going back to May 2016, Celtic’s last defeat occurred against Saint Johnstone. Since then, the Catholic team of Glasgow had added 60 victories and yielded nine draws.

“I want to congratulate my players, who have been 69 games undefeated. Of course it's a tough defeat, but they can hold their heads high,” Rodgers said after the match to the press.

Rodgers did not hesitate to recognize the merit of the Hearts of Midlothian, a Scottish team that stopped Celtic’s amazing streak since Rodgers took the coaching job of Celtic in the summer of 2016.

“It is a victory more than deserved; they were the best team,” Rodgers praised Hearts.

Despite the defeat, Celtic remains the leader of the tournament, two points ahead of Aberdeen and one game in hand.

The longest unbeaten number in European league football is recorded by the Romanian team Steau Bucureşti between 1986 and 1989 with 104 unbeaten league games.
