CAIRO – 17 December 2017: Brazilian soccer star Ricardo Kaka announced his retirement on Sunday in a television interview with Brazilian television Globo.

The 35-year-old has announced his retirement after a great career, during which he took the shirt of Sao Paulo, Milan, Real Madrid and Orlando City.

“My career as a professional player is over. I made the decision calmly, after consulting people close to me, and I came to the decision that the time has come to end my career as a professional player,” 2007’s world’s best player said.

Kaka made his intentions public after confirming the failure of his team, Orlando City, in the regular season of Major League Soccer (MLS), which remained for the third consecutive year outside the play-offs despite having the Brazilian player in its ranks. Kaka was the best paid of the entire competition with a salary of $7.2 million.

The 35-years-old signed for three seasons upon his arrival from Sao Paulo in 2015, and in view of the club's decision and his inability to maintain his status on another MLS team, he accepted retirement to start a career as a coach.
