CAIRO – 13 December 2017: Ahmed Refaat, the former Zamalek star died Wednesday after a struggle with disease.

Ahmet Refaat was an active member in Zamalek SC; not only did he work as the head coach of the football team but he also worked as director of football as well as a member of the Board of Directors.

Refaat was one of the stars of Zamalek who won two consecutive Egyptian League Championship titles with the team in the 1960s.

He was born in Bulaq, Cairo, in 1942 and was one of the most popular players in Zamalek.

Refaat used to play as a right back before changing to third back and he was known for scoring goals from outside the penalty area.

He retired in 1973 to start his coaching career with the junior team in Zamalek.
He led Zamalek briefly in 1996 and also coached Al-Masry, Dina farms, Suez and the Arab contractor
