CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Uruguay national team coach, Oscar Tabarez, believes that their game against Egypt in the World Cup will not be easy.
“The Egyptian team is working well and their coach Cuper always gives defensive effectiveness to his teams," Tabarez told the press on Wednesday.
The draw put Uruguay in Group A alongside Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the host nation, Russia. Uruguay will play their opening game against Egypt.
Tabarez criticized the media reactions after the draw, “There are no easy matches, especially at the World Cup, so I don't know why the people are celebrating the formation of our group as if we scored a goal in a match.”
Tabarez will coach Uruguay in his fourth World Cup; he was the team manager during the 1990 World Cup in Italy. He has also coached the national team in the last three World Cups. He led the Uruguayan national team to reach fourth place in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
