CAIRO – 3 December 2017 : Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes that the victory in his first game in charge of Everton will help the team to grow and improve.
“That has taken the pressure off us all; it will give the confidence of the players a big boost, and that is very, very important,” Allardyce told press after the game.
Everton appointed Allardyce as manager on Thursday, November 30 to replace Ronald Koeman, who was sacked.
Allardyce watched Everton’s 4-0 victory over West Ham on Wednesday from the stands and he led the team on Saturday to beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 thanks to goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Allardyce praised his players, saying, “They should feel good about themselves at the moment. They have had a bit of a stick recently, so everybody at the stadium today appreciated the win, as they did on Wednesday, and hopefully we can continue in the right frame of mind.”
Everton is in 10th place with 18 points.
