CAIRO – 2 December 2017 : Moroccan midfielder, Younès Belhanda, believes that Morocco still has a chance to qualify to the second round in the World Cup despite games ending in a draw against Spain, Portugal and Iran.

“We know it will be a tough mission against two of the biggest national teams in the world; Spain and Portugal, but we have to believe in our chances,” Belhanda told France Football.

Belhanda, 27, was integral in qualifying Morocco to the World Cup after 20 years; they last played in the 1998 World Cup in France.

Belhanda added; “Playing against big stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta is exceptional and it will bring so much happiness to us.”

Morocco will start their games at the tournament against Iran, the first Asian team to secure a qualification to the World Cup. Belhanda believes it is better to start the competition against Iran.

Belhanda added; “Iran is a very good team but it differs from Spain and Portugal. Everything is possible in these games and we should trust our abilities to qualify to the second round.”
