CAIRO – 1 December 2017 : The World Cup draw was held on Friday at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow. The draw resulted in many interesting groups which promises for an exciting 2018 World Cup.
In Group A, Egypt was drawn with their Arab rivals, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and the host nation, Russia.
The opening game in the World Cup will be between Russia and Saudi Arabia, while Egypt will have their first game against Uruguay.
The Egyptian team will play against Russia in their second group match and they will have their last game against Saudi Arabia.
Group B is the toughest group in the World Cup; the draw put Spain with Portugal, Morocco and the Asian giants, Iran.
Spain will face Portugal in their first game in the tournament.
In Group C, France is expected to secure their qualification to the second round easily. The French team is playing against Australia, Peru and Denmark.
In Group D, Lionel Messi and his Argentinean teammates have a tough mission against Iceland, Nigeria and European giants, Croatia.
In Group E, Brazil was lucky enough to avoid the big teams; the draw put them alongside Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.
The draw put Germany in a tricky group as they will play in Group F against South Korea, Sweden and Mexico.
The teams’ histories are not as well entrenched as that of Germany, yet they have successfully proved their abilities in the qualifiers.
In Group G, Tunisia has a difficult mission against the European giants, England and Belgium and the newcomers, Panama.
In Group H, all teams have a chance to qualify to the second round. Senegal will play against Colombia, Poland and Japan.
Russia hosts the World Cup between June 14 and July 15.
