CAIRO – 1 December 2017: Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek, congratulated Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the new president of Al-Ahly and his crew for winning the elections that were held on Thursday in the Red Castle, wishing him and his board all the success in his next mission.
The Al-Ahly Club's board of directors’ elections resulted in the victory of Egyptian football icon Mahmoud Al-Khatib of the presidency of Al-Ahly with 20,956 votes, beating his rival Mahmoud Taher, the club’s current leader, who amassed 13,182 votes.
The president of Zamalek also wished all the best to the former president of Al-Ahly, Mahmoud Taher, in light of the respectful and good relationship that they have both shared over the past years, and wished him success in his next phase.
Mortada Mansour was elected as Zamalek Sporting Club’s president for another four years after receiving the majority of votes in the club’s board of directors’ elections that ended on Friday, November 24.
In his statement to Zamalek’s official website, Mansour wished to maintain a pleasant relationship with Al-Khatib, and wished for the coming period to witness more agreeable relations between the two clubs.
