CAIRO – 28 November 2017: Al Ahly SC President Mahmoud Taher, who is currently running for another term as president of the club, was recently interviewed by Amr Adib of the Kol Youm TV show.
Taher’s main opponent for the Presidency is football legend Mahmoud al-Khatib, also known as Bibo. In an attempt to compete with the ever popular Bibo, Taher has made multiple special promises to the fans and members of the club.
Taher said that his Board are considering the case of the Ultras, “We are contacting the Ultras, and the fans in general, and we will established the first administration for the matches and affairs of the fans.” He added, “We hope to bring back the fans to the matches, and we don’t have any concerns or worries about their return, but the decision is in the Security Authorities’ hands.”
Taher also assured that Al Ahly’s interests are his first priority; he does not just want to win the presidency for the sake of being president, “No system can succeed without a strong economy, and there is no successful football team without it. The interests of Al Ahly are more important than the elections and the Board of Directors.”
He stressed that the football team will return to its previous glories; winning matches and trophies, according to Youm 7. Al Ahly has not reached CAF Champions League’s final since 2013.
The elections are set to take place on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
