CAIRO – 27 November 2017 : The Confederation of African Football “CAF” announced the short list for the “African Player of The Year” award on Monday. The CAF chose 11 players from 30 players who appeared in the initial list.
Mohamed Salah is the only Egyptian player on the list as CAF excluded the Egyptian National Team goalkeeper, Essam el-Hadary.
The other 10 players in the list are:
• Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso)
• Denis Onyango (Uganda)
• Karim el-Ahmadi (Morocco)
• Keita Balde (Senegal)
• Naby Keita (Guinea)
• Sadio Mane (Senegal)
• Victor Moses (Nigeria)
• Yacine Brahimi (Algeria)
• Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon)
• Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon)
The CAF also revealed African player of the year based in Africa short list, the list included Al-Ahly players, Ali Maaloul, Junior Ajayi and Ahmed Fathi.
The other seven players in the list are Achraf Bencharki, Aristide Bance, Ben Malango, Denis Onyango, Jeremy Brockie, Mohamed Ounnajem and Taha Yassine Khenisss.
The shortlists were decided after votes from members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants.
CAF will announce the awards winners in their ceremony on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
