CAIRO – 24 November 2017: Amer Hussein, chairman of the competitions committee at the Football Federation, announced that the Arabian Gulf Super Cup football match, to be held between Al-Jazira and Al-Wahda clubs, will take off in Cairo on January 4.
The match will be held in Cairo for the second year in a row after coordination and agreement between the Egyptian Football Federation, headed by Hany Abu Reda and his UAE counterpart. The location will be either the the Air Defense stadium or Cairo Stadium.
The Air Defense Stadium hosted the Emirati Super Cup match last season also, which brought together Al Ahli Dubai and Al Jazira. That match ended in a 2-1 Al Ahli victory.
The match was supposed to take place at Borg El Arab Stadium, according to earlier reports, before the Air Defense Stadium was eventually agreed to.
