CAIRO – 18 November 2017: Abdelzaher El Saka, former legendary Egyptian defender, travelled to Turkey to attend a ceremony held by Turkish club Atiker Konyaspor. The ceremony is being held to honor their former players who participated in making their history.

It is expected that Saka will be honored as the best captain in the history of Konyaspor.

Abdelzaher played with the Turkish club for seven seasons. He scored four goals and provided a single assist in 66 matches.

Saka, who is the current sports director of Tanta Sporting Club, expressed his happiness and thanked the officials of Konyaspor for this honor.

Abdelzaher moved to Turkey in 1999 after winning the African Cup of Nations in 1998 with the Egyptian national team. Saka played for Denizlispor for three years before joining Gençlerbirliği in 2002.

Saka had offers from the biggest teams in Turkey, like Galatasaray and Besiktas, but he rejected them all to play with Gençlerbirliği.

In 2005, Saka moved to Konyaspor, where he played two years before rejoining Gençlerbirliği in 2007.

Abdelzaher won 112 caps for the Egyptian national team and achieved three African Cup of Nations titles in 1998, 2006 and 2010.
