CAIRO – 15 November 2017: Australia secured their appearance at the fourth consecutive World Cup tournament, defeating Honduras on Wednesday morning 3-1 in Sydney.

Australia faced Honduras at the Inter-Confederation playoff second leg in Sydney after they returned from Honduras with a goalless draw.

Australia started the game well and created many chances through their midfielder Aaron Mooy’s crosses, but the Australian strikers failed to open the score, ending the first half 0-0.

In the second half, Mile Jedinak scored three goals to secure a comfortable victory for the Australians.

The first goal came from a free kick at the 54-minute mark, while the other two goals came from penalties at minute 74 and 85.

Honduran striker, Alberth Elis, scored their only goal in the game minutes before the final whistle.

Australia qualified to the World Cup for fifth time in their history, qualifying to the 1974 World Cup in Germany and the last three World Cups in Germany, South Africa and Brazil.
