CAIRO –12 November 2017: Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the 2017 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.
Salah was included on the list after impressive performances on both the club and national team levels.
Following a wonderful season with AS Roma, scoring 19 goals and making 15 assists, he joined Liverpool in a record €42 million ($49 million) transfer during last summer’s transfer market.
He has scored seven goals in 11 Premier League games with Liverpool and five goals in six Champions League matches.
The 25-year-old led Egypt to their first World Cup since 1990, after scoring two goals against Congo.
Fans will have the chance to vote for their favorite among the shortlisted players. The winner will be announced on December 11.
Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Victor Moses and Naby Keita are also included on the list.
Two Egyptians won the BBC award previously, Mohamed Barakat and Mohamed Abou-Treika, claiming it in 2005 and 2008, respectively.
