Al-Ahly refuses to participate in Super Globe

CAIRO – 7 November 2017: Al-Ahly announced the club will not participate in the International Handball Federation’s Super Globe which will be played in Qatar, if the team qualifies.

Marwan Hisham, a member of Ahly's board of directors, said to Stade Al-Hadaf radio program, "We will not play in the World Cup in Qatar if Ahly wins the African Super Cup against Zamalek. We had already apologized for participating in another tournament in Qatar, and we will continue sticking to our position and we will not participate in the Super Globe if we qualify."

Zamalek’s president had previously also said they would not participate in the Super Globe as long as it is held in Qatar.

Ahly is supposed to face Zamalek in April next year in the African Super Cup, and the winner will qualify to the Super Globe.
