CAIRO – 04 November 2017: Al Ahly must score in Saturday`s clash against Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League Final that will be held in Morocco at Mohammed V stadium.
Ahly tied 1-1 with their Moroccan counterpart Wydad during the first leg of the African Champions League. The match final was played at Borg Al Arab stadium in Alexandria.
The Red giants visited Morocco nine times before which ended by two victories, four losses and three draws.
Al Ahly`s first visit to Morocco was in 1984 when they defeated CLAS Casablanca 2-0 in the African Cup Winners` Cup. The veteran players, Taher Abou Zeid and Hamdy Abou Rady, scored both goals that qualified the team to the last-16 round.
The 1984 season of the African Cup Winners' Cup football club tournament was won by El Ahly in two-legged final victory against Canon Yaoundé.
Al Ahly waited for 32 years to secure the second victory in Morocco when they defeated Wydad Casablanca 1-0 during the group stage of 2015/2016 edition of the African Champions league. The victory came thanks to Rami Rabeaa, Al Ahly`s defender.
Al Ahly lost four games against Moroccan teams in Morocco. The first one was against Rajaa Casablanca in 2002. Then they lost against, Difaa Hassani El Jadidi in 2014, Moghreb Tetouan in 2015 and Wydad Casablanca in 2017.
The red devils drew three games against Rajaa Casablanca in 1999 and 2005, and against Wydad Casablanca in 2011.
Al Ahly managed to score eight goals and conceded 10 goals in Morocco.
Al Ahly has reached the CAF Champions League final for the 11th time in their history and for the first time since their win in 2013.
