CAIRO – 30 October 2017: The national karate team came in second place at the Karate World Championships for U-21 and juniors, with a total of 15 medals.

The karate team ranked second in the overall standings winning five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

The gold medals were won by Reem Ahmad (48kg), Salma Nasim Al Shafei (53kg) and Abdullah Hisham (68kg), while the fourth gold was for female team kata, represented by Asmaa Mahmoud, Shahd Sedek and Toka Hesham, and the fifth gold medal was won by Ahmed Rajab (84kg).

On the silver level, Ahmed Saeed scored the silver medal for the 67kg division, Mohamed Salah for 52kg, and the third one was won by the male team kata, represented by Ahmed Al Sayed, Mostafa Refaat and Mahmoud Amr. The bronze medal winners are Norhan Suwaidan, Mostafa El Ghobashy, Menna Shaaban, Mohamed Omar, Malik Gomaa and Ferial Ashraf.
