Cairo – 28October 2017: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp meets his old friend David Wagner, who manages Huddersfield Town, on Saturday, when both teams face each other in the Premier League.
There is a great story to tell about the two German managers, as both of them share nationality, a lot of things in common and a lot of memories together.
Wagner shared the dressing room with Klopp 25 years ago when both of them were players at Mainz. Wagner joined the club in 1991 and played there for four years, unlike Klopp, who joined the club in 1990 and stayed there until retirement.

In these four years, a great friendship had been built between both of them. They were roommates in Mainz away games and they got used to each other’s company.
Klopp didn’t find a better friend to be his best man in his wedding other than Wagner, who also chose Klopp to be the godfather of his daughter.
The friendship continued even after their retirement, as they shared the Borussia Dortmund dressing room from 2011 to 2015, when Klopp was the first team manager and Wagner was the second team manager.

In 2015, both of them left Germany to manage in England. Klopp went to Liverpool to regain the club’s forgotten history, while Wagner went to a small club, Huddersfield Town, where he led the team to the Premier League for the first time.
Both managers hope to give the other a hard time in Saturday’s game, but they will return great friends after the final whistle.
