Cairo – 27 October 2017: Ronald Koeman statedthat his dismissal as coach of Everton came because he did not sign France’s Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as substitute for Romelu Lukaku, who transferred to Manchester United of Mourinho.

In his first statements following the departure from Everton, the former Barcelona player said that, "I almost had Giroud in the squad and it was difficult to swallow not being able to hire him."

Ronald considers that his incorporation "would have been perfect, but he decided to continue living in London." He added, "tell me where you find a better striker."

In his view, Giroud was ideal to replace Lukaku, sold to United for more than ninety million.

"Lukaku was very important to us, not only for his goals but also for his way of playing: strong, fast, direct. Vlasic and Rooney, players who want the ball to the foot," he said.
Everton spent 160 million in players this summer, including Sigurdsson, Pickford, Keane Klaassen, but for Koeman the cherry would have put Giroud.

"It's a lot of money, but in England you work in a world with different numbers, players cost a lot more than their true value, that's how the market goes, " he concluded.
