CAIRO –25 October 2017: Ali Maaloul revealed his hopes of playing in Europe after he guided Al-Ahly to the CAF Champions League final.
Maaloul played a big role to help Al-Ahly reach the Champions League final, scoring twice, as well as making two assists, against Esperance Tunis and Étoile du Sahel.
“I thank God for my recent performances with Al-Ahly. I always try to honor Tunisian football, and I hope we can compensate for the disappointment of the Tunisian clubs with the World Cup qualification,” Maaloul told a Tunisian TV channel.
“It is not true that Hossam el-Badry doesn’t like Tunisian players; everyone knows the coach’s attitude towards his players. You have to work hard to earn a place in the team.
I am doing my best to play in Europe and I hope god helps me achieve that,” he added.
Maaloul was responsible for an Esperance penalty against Al-Ahly in the quarter-finals, but he scored the equalizer in the second half and assisted the winning goal for Junior Ajayi.
“I had a tough time after that goal and I said to myself that I have 45 minutes to show my real character in order to end the controversy that was raised around me. These are not my morals,” he said.
