CAIRO –19 October 2017: Hossam Ashour will be sidelined for at least four weeks due to a groin injury he sustained against Al Raja on Monday.
The 31-year-old suffered a muscular injury during Al Ahly’s win over Al Raja in the Egyptian Premier League and was ruled out of his side’s crucial clash against Etoile du Sahel.
Ashour will miss at least five games for Al Ahly (Etoile du Sahel, Al Assiouty, Misr El-Maqassa, Al Nasr and El-Entag) and could miss Egypt’s fixtures against the UAE and Ghana next month.
This is a major blow for Hossam El-Badry, who will look to replace Ashour with the likes of Abdallah El-Said, Hesham Mohamed, Rami Rabiaa or Akram Tawfik.
Al Ahly managed to record their second league win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Al Raja last Monday, but they will be up for a tough challenge at Borg El Arab Stadium when they face Etoile du Sahel in the return-leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
